Enhances Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers
As an experienced cosmetic dentist, Dr. Solich has helped hundreds of patients in the Colorado Springs area achieve smile greatness with porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are very thin, custom-made shells that are affixed to your teeth instantly transforming your smile from dull to dazzling.
The Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
At our Colorado Springs cosmetic dentistry practice, porcelain veneers can be designed and place in approximately 2 to 3 weeks. With porcelain veneers, Dr. Solich can correct a variety of dental issues, including:
- Gaps between teeth
- Stains and spots on teeth
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Unevenly sized teeth
- Old fillings that have become discolored
In past, porcelain veneers were made from a ceramic material that lacked the translucency of healthy, natural teeth. The porcelain used today is luminescent, so porcelain veneers closely resemble tooth enamel. Modern porcelain veneers are also stain-resistant. What is the Procedure Like?
Not everyone is a good candidate for porcelain veneers. If your teeth are too crowded, you might benefit more from Invisalign clear braces. At your porcelain veneers assessment, Dr. Solich will thoroughly examine your teeth and decide whether veneers are your best option for improving your smile. And if porcelain veneers will benefit you, then Dr. Solich will custom design the veneers at your first visit to our Colorado Springs dentist office.
The enamel on the front sides of the teeth will be trimmed back very slightly, to make room for the veneers (about the thickness of an eggshell). An impression, or mold, will be made of the trimmed-back teeth, which will be used by a dental lab to create your porcelain veneers. Patients can also discuss the possibility of wearing temporary veneers while waiting for your permanent porcelain veneers to arrive (usually about a week or so).
At your second appointment to our Colorado Springs office, Dr. Solich will adjust and trim the veneers until they fit properly, and then bond them to the front teeth using use a shade of cement that matches your tooth color. To ensure a strong bond, Dr. Solich will etch the surface of your teeth with a gel that creates microscopic roughness. When the veneers are in place, the bonding cement is cured by a special light.
You’ll return to our cosmetic dentistry practice in Colorado Springs at least once more so Dr. Solich can evaluate how your gums have responded to the veneers. However, porcelain veneers are biocompatible and generally won’t irritate your gingiva. If anymore adjustments are needed or other issues need to be addressed, they’ll be handled during this appointment.
